This case by Russell Blanchard (using the excellent skills of Sally at Walton Dental Arts) shows how much the aesthetics of veneer work has moved on and also reminds us that when we fit any work there will always come a time when we will need to replace it. The veneers shown at the start of the case had been in place for 20 years so represent very successful work but had become stained and did not give an ideal smile. Over two treatment visits Russell was able to remove the old veneers and make provisional ones which stayed in place for 3 weeks while the new ones were being made. The provisional ones are made from a wax version of the intended smile so the patient is able to try the new smile out before the final restorations are made. This gives them a chance to request any changes they would like ensuring a pleasing result.
