Hi, welcome to the first entry on my blog. My aim is to try and take dentistry out into the general arena so that everyone can learn a little bit more about what dentists do, why the do it and how we can help our patients. I am a qualified dentist and have been practicing in hospitals and general practice since 1989. I set up my current business from scratch in May 2005 and have enjoyed a tremendous first 20 months.
The categories are all fairly self explanatory, and I hope to provide images of real cases online so that people can gain an insight into what dentistry entails. In the “research update” category I will try and pick out recent research articles that I believe may be of real interest to the public at large. In the behind the headlines I will try and address any controversial issues that are being reported in the press to give a little more insite into what is being said and how it is being addressed. In the dental forum I hope to be able to answer as many questions as possible, providing free advise and, hopefully helping to remove any fear and confusion that people may be experiencing from treatment they are currently undergoing or are planning to undergo. In the general category I will try to give a little taste for how a dentist goes about running a business, treating patients, continuing with post graduate training, maintaining a family life and still stay passionate about what they do.
It will all be very dull without any feedback and questions so hopefully there will be lots of these.
