The next series of photos show the problems of acid erosion – usually from dietary acids such as citrus fruits or fizzy drinks. When the mouth drops below a critical pH of 5.5 the enamel and dentine that makes up our teeth begins to dissolve. This is a painless process that can take months or years to become visible. But it is an irreversible process, once the enamel and dentine has gone it cannot return.
The cases that follow show how we can repair the damage using direct composite veneers or indirect porcelain veneers.
Because of the techniques we use there is almost no drilling of sound tooth tissue meaning that the teeth remain in a healthy state beneath the composite or porcelain veneers, protected from further acid erosion.
If you are worried that your teeth may have been damaged through acid erosion please do not hesitate to contact the surgery on 01580 752202 and we will be happy to arrange a consultation for you.
