This short series of photos shows just how deceptive an initial cavity can appear. This patient had noticed some sensitivity from around an old filling and was developing a bad taste from it.
Once the old filling was removed we were able to see the extent of the damage underneath. Fortunately modern techniques allow us to restore a tooth like this with fibre reinforced direct white fillings which are quicky, cheaper and less invasive than a crown. The patient was delighted with the result and I am glad to say the sensitivty has resolved along with the bad taste. The tooth will need an overlay at some stage in the future but hopefully not for a good few years.
If you would like to know more about fibre reinforced composites and how they are changing our approach to dentistry please do not hesitate to call the practice on 01580 752202 and we will be happy to arrange an initial consultation for you.
