Any one who has set up a business from scratch, with no previous business training or experience will know just what an amazing rollercoster ride it can be. The past 24 hours have taken me from an all time low to an “I can see for miles” high with almost no time to catch my breath.
The low came in the usual form of the monthly figures which were horrendous and only set to get worse as the cost of our current expansion will take months to show any return. The high came from an out of the blue phone call asking me to allow photos of my clinical work to be used at an international symposium if Finland next month.
If there is one thing above all else that keeps us going professionally in dentistry it is recognition by our peers for the work that we do. I am delighted to be showing my work and helping to train other dentists and will let you know how it went after the show.
The expansion that I mentioned involves 1 new dentist, 1 new nurse,1 new hygienist, 1 new treatment co-ordinator, 1 new receptionist, 1 new surgery and two new osteopathic treatment rooms. The whole process will take to the end of the year and will involve so much time on the phone to the bank that it doesn’t bear thinking about but will allow us to raise the bar in customer service even higher. I will keep you posted!
